Forts, temples and wildlife

Days 1

Arrive Delhi. Reception and assistance on arrival. Transfer to hotel. Visit tombs of the erstwhile rulers of Delhi, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar and the crafts Museum. Overnight Delhi.

Days 2

Morning visit Old Delhi with its winding streets and crowded bazaars. The Jama Masjid, which is the largest mosque in India, as well as the Red Fort or Lal Qila are in the old part of the city. Afternoon free for own activities. Evening train to Sawai Madhopur. Dep 2230 hrs.

Days 3

Arrive early morning. Transfer to Lodge. Evening Jeep ride into Rathambhor National Park for game viewing. Overnight at Lodge.

Days 4

Morning and evening jeep rides into the park for game viewing. Overnight Lodge.

Days 5

Morning jeep ride for game viewing. Drive to Jaipur (3 hrs). Afternoon at leisure. Overnight Jaipur.

Days 6

Morning visit the impressive Amer Fort. The fort is a superb example of Rajput architecture, stunningly located on a hill side over looking a lake. Afternoon visit the Observatory and City Palace. Overnight Jaipur.

Days 7

Drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned capital of Emperor Akbar (6 hrs). Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Agra.

Days 8

Visit the Taj Mahal, the famed monument to love built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, and Agra Fort. Overnight Agra.

Days 9

Morning flight to Khajuraho. Transfer to hotel. Do a half day tour of the temples famed for their erotic sculptures. Overnight Khajuraho

Days 10

Drive to Bandhavgarh (8hrs). Overnight Lodge.

Days 11

Jeep rides into the park for game viewing. Overnight Lodge.

Days 12

Jeep rides into the park for game viewing. Overnight Lodge.

Days 13

Drive to Khajuraho. Overnight Khajuraho.

Days 14

Morning at leisure. Afternoon flight to Varanasi. Transfer to hotel. Half day City tour. Overnight Varanasi.

Days 15

Early Morning river cruise on the holiest of all rivers in India, the Ganges. Later visit Sarnath where the Buddha came to preach his messages of nirvana. It is an important pilgrim spot for Buddhists. Rest of the day at leisure.

Days 16

Early morning boat ride down the Ganges river for a sunrise cruise to observe the ceremonies that take place along the bathing Ghats where pilgrims come to bath in the sacred waters. Fly to Kathmandu.
